Same guy, can't stand still -

I can't wait to meet the kids of these friends, they are going to be hyper little buggers and I am going to be Aunty and take them to the park and fill them with sugar. I might teach them how to make cake, too.

So, for a second he paused and smiled nice for the camera. This scarf is for his dad. The cable is from one of the Babara Walkers and looks the same in either direction. The yarn is some Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran that was on sale at Sunspun.

And here is an owl I met, a little cousin of an earlier owl.

Long time WIP -

I have been knitting this jumper since the end of summer last year (february-ish). I got kind of bored when I had half a sleeve to go. When I moved in here it got put in a draw and stayed there until the other day when I started packing to move again.

The recipient is in England so I have tried it on two other people, one bigger (I forgot to take a photo) and one smaller (who wouldn't bloody stand still). I also used the model above for the travelling scarf (which is actually for his dad), stay tuned for blurry knitting.

I also found some tigers. The first seems watchful.

This one seems more sinister.

Bugs -

Long long ago, when I first got a camera, I took a picture of an interesting bug. It turned out to be a juvenile mantis. I have always liked praying mantises, and it looks like this one in the lemon grass is all growed up now.

If it is the same one, it didn't run away like when it was really little. But its little black eye does look a little worried. It has water on its head because I had thought it was an old leaf and had tried to wash it off (never garden without your glasses on).

I went to the Yarraville stitch and bitch last week and was inspired by one of the girls there to cast on a Tomten. It has kept me good company through a nervous few days.

I have to admit that it looks suspiciously like the disastrous ribwarmer at this stage.
Disoriented -

I finished the travelling scarf the other day. I am sitting in the dark. This past two weeks caught up with me this afternoon and I passed out for a couple of hours, which has the unhappy consequence of my still being wide awake, well past one in the morning.

I had to guess where the scarf was.

It has been a dizzying two weeks. Classes have been intense, but satisfying. I have been catching up with people and dashing about and looking at rental properties and trying to sort out Important Life Decisions.

Found this guy again.

He lives near where I'm going to be living.

More graffiti love -

I went to meet up with a friend last week and my eye was caught by these lizards.

Something about this fellow particularly appeals to me.

I like the footprints along the bottom, too.

Clapotis -

I wish I could knit it again

It makes me want to only ever knit with soft soft yarn.

I have given it to my mum, so, really, I could justify knitting another one for me. Sort of...

Friends -

I knit this about two years ago for friends having their first baby. I made it six month size, so that it would fit him in winter.

I was embarrassed to find it fits him now at 18 months, but his mum said he fits in to a lot of his 6 months clothes still. It is in Bendi Harmony. I didn't know if he was going to be boy or girl, so I hedged my bets with the navy and the hearts.

I don't know if it always happens this way, but I like that friends have had a kid who is the type of person I'd be friends with.

Travelling scarf -

I am going to Canada in a few months. We will be staying with a friend's parents in Maine (yeah, yeah I know, not Canada) while we are there, so I am making a pair of scarves as a thank you.

It is Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran, which makes my hands happy while I knit, and I used the shadow cable pattern from Barbara Walker's first book.
