Knitting graffiti

Rewards for good behaviour

Today I woke early. Knit a diamond on my vest. Played with my poor neglected cats. Went in to school and marked for a couple of hours. Went to a cafe and marked for a couple of hours.

Was driving home down Sydney Road. Stopped at an intersection.

The car gave a death rattle and then the clutch was no more. I pressed it in a couple of times hopefully, pathetically. And then we waited for the nice tow-truck man.

You're so fucking special,
I wish I was special.

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here.

AFP and Radiohead.

I just bought Amanda Palmer's album because I love Radiohead and ukeleles. And Amanda Palmer is going to marry Neil Gaiman. And I can personally account for about 80 views of this clip. And because this is the way I want to buy music.

And her eyebrows are rad. And a little bit scary.

Why life is good - XI

Lentils are cheap and delicious.

Is it a worry that a lot of the reasons I'm coming up with for why life is good are to do with food?

Wave on.

Why life is good - X

Getting the year 11's accustomed to hearing the name 'Lesbia' then laughing at the name 'Lesbos'.

Why life is good - IX

The cat chewing his toe nails.

This is actually kind of gross, but also a little bit fascinating. Like intestinal parasites. Or fairy floss.

Why life is good - VIII

Haloumi as a mid-afternoon snack. Crunchy, melty deliciousness.

The country

We went on an excursion to the country.

There was vanilla slice and galahs. It's not enough to lure me from the city. Not even if it meant I could keep chooks.

Why life is good - VII

The way fresh clean toes feel in fresh clean sheets.

A study of cat

Mis has taught me to play fetch. In a rather amusing variation, I throw the toy mouse on a shelf where she couldn't quite reach it.

Then Pan taught her how to get it.

She still misjudges her center of gravity from time to time.

And they are disturbingly close to working out how to scale the book shelves.

She is very persistent.

And always gets it in the end.

Why life is good - VI

Fake science. For when the facts are too confusing.

Look up

I don't look up enough. Every time I go into the city I see something I haven't noticed before.

Of course, up isn't the only place I don't notice things, so maybe I should just look.

Why life is good - V

Hot soy milk with cinnamon and honey. (Bless you Court Jester for suggesting it). I might try it myself with cardamom as well. mmmm, cardamom.
