Family -

A new baby in the family and a new love of garterstitch thanks to brooklyntweed, has brought on a square garter baby blanket.

With any luck I'll get it finished before the baby is too big for it.

Post of +4 Reminding -

This is where I need to come if I feel like I need to buy more yarn.

Top shelf of Rowan felted tweed in Herb, two packs yorkshire tweed 4ply in Graze, two packs all seasons cotton in Dusky. There is also the other packet of Jo Sharp DK Tweed that is slowly becoming the Spindleshanks Jumper. That box is the yarn for Marihone. The purple bag has 4 skeins of Lorna's Laces, Tuscany.

Two packs rowanspun dk Cloud, one pack Goblin. Also a bag o' wonders which I'll go into in more detail some fine day.

Mill end of Cleckheaton Tapestry, random skein of silk from Handweavers and Spinners guild, cone of Rowan silk, I forget what.

Sweet little sockies -

The first one took a week, second one took an afternoon. They are the cutest damn things made out of left-over yarn from ill-fated socks. It is Regia Silk. I made a pair of socks out of it for my ex's dad. It is delicious yarn, if I had the time and patience I'd make a jumper out of it. The making of those socks saw blood (nicked myself on my embroidery scissors), sweat (it was late summer) and tears (Port Fairy Folk Festival, John McCutcheon).

I used the yarn to ensure the socks be extra perfect, but I never did get gift giving right with his parents. Hopefully gift giving to family will work out better.

They are too big, I tried them on my friends' 10 month baby and him they fit beautifully, but they say babies grow... Welcome to the world Matilda Popsie.

ooooo, Shiny -

I keep finding waaaaant, waaaaant, waaaaant, but don't seem to be getting more time.

And even during play time I feel all "knitting... meh".

Stats: 4 finished, 1 ripped, 13 languishing / 1 new (I think I might have mis-counted and had 18, not 21... does that mean I can start something new? suddenly I feel a new rush of knitting interest).

Bless Wendy Dennis -

Why don't I feel the love for this one anymore? It was all the rage at the end of last winter. I knit most of it in 3 weeks, I was obsessed. Then I started a new job and, in spite of it being the only project I was working on, there were only 8 inches in the next 13 weeks.

The Wendy Dennis 4ply polwarth yarn (her sheep wear little jackets, you can see them from the train if you head down the coast) spun with silk. Delicious.

Still struggling with the focus.

Heh, focus, geddit?

This is me and my brother when we were little.
Damn projects that are going to be *lovely* when they are done, but no longer sing that sweet sweet siren song -

You know why it looks rumpled? Because it has been sitting in that damn Glad bag so long.

I, perhaps, have too many projects.

Long Time Scarf -

I don't know if I have mentioned this as one of the UFOs or not. The week I got home from China (the first time) I found a place to live; enrolled in uni; bought a bed; started uni and bought many balls of Jo Sharp DK to make a scarf with.

I wanted it to look like a stockinette scarf, but I didn't like how stockinette curled. So, in my wisdom, I chose to knit it in a one by one rib on 2.75mm needles (you heard me). I could only knit in straight lines and my imagination didn't run to borders.

It took at least two years to finish (mainly because of the relentless pain). Don't you think it's pretty? And why do I call it a UFO?

I loathe sewing in ends. I sat down and had a heart to heart the other night with it and a darning needle, but still so many. They mock my pain.

It's been six years now. I'd like to wear it this winter.
